St. Lawrence Market Engagement Session :: Rebeca + Jason
On a very warm day in July, I met Jason and Rebeca for their St Lawrence Market engagement session.
Jason and Rebeca wanted their engagement session to capture a glimpse of their everyday life and activities they enjoy doing together. One of their favourite pastimes is visiting and shopping at the St Lawrence Market. We headed to the market and surrounding neighbourhood of Old Town Toronto for their photos.
I love photographing Old Toronto because of the mix of historic and modern architecture. There are many historical buildings with beautiful red brick, large archways and detailed stonework. Walk one street over and you will find a newer building with large glass windows panes, marble and granite walls. Each time I shoot here is completely different and we always come across something new.
The St Lawrence Market provided a very colourful and vibrant background for the start of our shoot. After stopping at a few local artisans and fruit stands, we walked down the Esplande towards the historic Flat Iron building. Just as we were walking, a large police escort with many buses drove by. We realized it was the opening ceremonies for the Pan Am games, and took a few minutes to wave at the athletes passing by on buses. It was amazing to see the excitement and anticipation on the athlete’s faces – so fun!
The last part of the engagement session focused on capturing some iconic Old Toronto locations including the Tom Jones Building, P.J O’Brien’s mural, and the King Street Car.
Jason and Rebeca’s wedding is quickly coming up this weekend. I’m looking forward to capturing their rustic summer wedding at Auberge Due Pommier!
