Toronto Island Wedding :: Anna + Michelle

Anna and Michelle’s Toronto Island wedding felt just like an end of summer backyard celebration. Picnic tables, lawn games and a pot luck, all while guests enjoyed views of the lake and Toronto skyline. Their intimate wedding was full of heartfelt speeches, much laughter and love.

The afternoon started with getting ready at a local bed and breakfast on the island. As I arrived, there was the usual last minute pre wedding hustle and final touches. After a few final hugs and well wishes. Anna and Michelle got ready together, and then walked over the Algonquin Island Association club house for their lakeside ceremony.

The reception kicked off with life size jenga, a piñata, connect four, and a delicious pot luck. Instead of wedding gifts, guests each brought a small dish which made for a delicious spread of food. It really brings everyone together when they can all share some great food and recipes. After dinner, the dance party kicked off with some retro and funky tunes!

One of the best parts of my job is that it enables me to capture the couple bask in their special day. With careful planning couples create the perfect celebration of their love, and I get to follow that story from beginning to “I do”.

Not only did I have an amazing time photographing Anna and Michelle’s wedding, but I loved getting to know them throughout the planning process. We bonded over our favourite sour beers, hearing about the making of their unicorn piñata ‘Sparky’, and learning new camping locations. It’s always nice when couples become friends.
