How To Choose The Best Spots in the Junction For Maternity Photos
As with any neighbourhood in Toronto, there are nearly endless amounts of locations for you to get your maternity pictures taken in the Junction. The Junction is somewhat unique in that it has still retained some of its historic charms compared to other areas of Toronto. The Junction also has a wide variety of settings to go with so you can get a good array of shots. So if you’re interested, here’s how to choose the best spots in the Junction for your maternity photos.
Add A Little Green!
The reason so many Torontonians flock to the Junction for photos is that you have High Park and cool urban building all in close proximity. High Park is one of, if not the most, beautiful green spaces in all of Toronto. When I did maternity photos for Alissa and Ryan, we found ourselves in the High Park in the peak of autumns beauty. The rugged nature of High Park almost lets you feel like you’re off in the countryside near Caledon. When you get photos done in High Park you can truly get some undisturbed spaces. This means you don’t have to waste time trying to avoid the dreaded photobombs! Then you can conveniently pop across the neighbourhood and capture some very hip urban shots in the Junction.
Is This Your Station?
For any couples looking for cute settings for their maternity shoot, I cannot recommend the Junction enough because of the Train Platform. It’s where the neighbourhood gathers for the Junctions Farmers Market every Saturday, Spring to Fall. So perhaps planning your shoot on non-market days is the only thing to avoid. But when you get a clear shot at this train platform, it makes for beautiful and vintage looking photos. Also, could there be any better metaphor than a train platform for where you two are as a couple? You are excitedly on the platform of parenthood, eagerly awaiting your baby train to arrive! So capture that feeling forever, with photos in front of the Junction Train Platform.
The Hidden Gem
Ok, so we’ve covered the green space and all the beauty that comes with that. Then we have your gooey and sentimental location. Now you’re probably wishing you could capture a little sense of Toronto as a whole. But the Junction can’t showcase that right? Wrong! I have a special little spot in the Junction that’s on a pedestrian footpath. This spot has charm, character, and a stunning view of the CN Tower and the Toronto skyline in the background. You can really have it all in the Junction!
Missing The Bright Lights?
Ok, so nature, train themes, and rustic vintage charm maybe aren’t what you’re looking for. Are you more of a downtown, urban-loving couple? If so, click here to see some shots I did with a couple on Queen West. It’s more edgy, hip, and urban.
